Hospice care is designed for individuals living with a life-limiting illness when the focus of care shifts from curing the disease to enhancing comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
At Richmed Hospice Services, we help patients and families understand eligibility so they can receive the support they deserve — at the right time.

When to Consider Hospice Care
Recognizing when hospice may be beneficial can be difficult, but several signs often indicate that it’s time to explore comfort-focused care:
- Frequent hospitalizations or ER visits
- Rapid decline in health despite treatment
- Significant weight loss, weakness, or fatigue
- Difficulty performing daily activities without help
- Increased pain, shortness of breath, or distress
- A desire to remain at home rather than pursue aggressive treatment
If any of these signs apply, we encourage you to contact Richmed Hospice for a confidential evaluation — no referral or commitment is required to begin the conversation.
How to Begin the Process
The first step is simple.
You, a loved one, or a healthcare provider can initiate a referral. Once received:
- Our clinical team reviews the patient’s condition and physician certification.
- We schedule an assessment visit, often within hours, to determine eligibility and begin planning care.
- Once approved, our interdisciplinary team begins coordinating services immediately — with compassion, respect, and urgency.
Financial Eligibility
At this time, Richmed Hospice Services accepts private, out-of-pocket payments only.
We believe financial limitations should never delay compassionate care, and our staff can provide transparent information about cost and coverage before admission.
A Compassionate Conversation Starts Here
Determining hospice eligibility isn’t about giving up — it’s about choosing comfort, dignity, and peace when it matters most.
Our team is here to help families make informed, confident decisions about end-of-life care.
